2 Floors, and I take an elevator?!?

As I wrote in a post a few days ago I still plan on running a marathon. My health – first the heel injury and then that pesky infection – kept me from completing my goal this year, but for next year I definitely plan on doing it.

So, why if I am trying to get back into fighting shape do I still smoke? And why do I always take the elevator to the second floor of my office building to where my desk is? I am not going to get into the smoking part just yet, that will be the subject of another post altogether. The elevator part is bugging me – walking the stairs is faster, better for my health and it conserves energy but yet I still take the elevator.

Maybe it’s a reluctance to get back to my des – probably not, since I always curse the elevator for taking so long. Maybe it’s not wanting to break into a sweat – not likely either, it’s only two floors. No, it’s about being lazy. There really is no excuse ! Here I am trying to figure out how I will squeeze a marathon training plan into working a 12 hour day, doing my household chores and soon being a good daddy to the Munchkin and here I leave out a perfectly good opportunity to work my body just a little bit throughout the day.

This reminds me of a picture I have found in my email inbox a few times: Escalators leading up to a first floor gym. I actually googled for the picture and ended up finding it on a webite called thisisbroken.com.

All I know is, I have to start taking the stairs!!
