The joys of having a big dog
Posted in: DogWell, I thought I would have a happier note to introduce my 100lb newfoundland girl but I am sad to say, she is in rare form tonight. I really shouldn’t complain 99.9% of the time having her is pure joy. She is cute, she is funny, she is a big furry bear. Going anywhere with her is an experience in itself, as we regularly get people stopping us so they can cuddle with her.
But tonight is a chapter in itself. For some bizarre reason she decided at a little over 2 years old to revert into puppyhood. Unfortuantely now she is bigger so she can actually reach things on the counter easier. Even more unfortunate, that I left my sunglasses on the counter. Well, they are pretty much done for now – not a happy day indeed.
However, you can’t stay mad at her for long – especially after seeing her flip out over the fireworks display from Lantern Fest. She is usually pretty freaked out by fireworks, darting around the room like someone tied a firecracker to her tail. Tonight was much of the same and she even jumped on the couch to be protected by me. Then something interesting happened. She caught a glimpse of the fireworks through the window. Maybe she thought the lights in the sky where pretty – but from one second to the next, not freaked out anymore.
Anyways, it might be a pain in the behind to have a large dog like her or any other giant breed – but her goofie attitude makes her loved not only by us but our friends and family as well. A pair of sunglasses can be replaced, but the companionship a dog gives you is so much more. They where really nice sunglasses though – they should come out of her toy allowance
